Type of Battery
A battery system (or additional capacity) in the range of 5kWh-100kWh in nominal capacity.
Eligible battery systems could include:
A single battery unit
A system of modular battery units connected to serve as one battery (the combined capacity being between 5-100kWh in nominal capacity)
• lnstalled as evldenced by a Certificate of Electrical Safety issued by the installer on or after 1 July 2025.
lnstalled with an existing or new solar PV system at a premisses.
Only a single battery system installation at a premises is eligible for support once.
May be on or off-grid. On-grid systems must be VPP capable.

Safety
Battery system complies with all Australian Standards and Best Practice Guide
Complies with relevant state and territory Iaw including electrical safety regulations (evidenced by certificate of electrical safety)
The battery system and inverter must be listed an the Clean Energy Council (CEC) approved product list
Installation undertaken by/with supervision on site from an accredited person/s in battery design/installation under Solar Accreditation Australia
On-grid Grid Connected Battery sytermss (GCBS)
Off-grid: Stand Alone Power Systems (SAPS)
Written statements from the retailer and installer provided to the system owner as required.
Discount
Support will only be provided for up to 50 kWh of usable capacity.
The discount will be provided through STCs, equivalent to around a 30% discount on the average cost of an installed battery in 2025.
The rate of discount will decline over time as battery costs come down.
Batteries may also be eligible for state or territory support.
Consumers and installers should check the eligibility requirements of states and territories for any additional conditions or exclusions under local schemes.
The Government will fund the cost of the discount for batteries by purchasing STCs through the CER’s Clearing House.

The products included on the list have been independently tested to confirm that they meet the necessary electrical safety and quality standards under the Clean Energy Council’s Battery Assurance Program.
