⚠️ New Battery Photo Requirements from March 2026

Starting March 1st, 2026, the Clean Energy Regulator (CER) is introducing new mandatory photo requirements for all solar battery installations under the SRES.

We are currently updating Geo and the Onsite app to include these new "photo buckets" and descriptions.

 

The 3 main areas requiring additional evidence: Meter Box Labels, Switchboard & Isolation Labels and Solar Battery Unit Labels

1.Meter Box Labels

  • Main Battery Label: The circular green reflective "ES" label (min. 100mm diameter) featuring the UN number (e.g., UN3480).

  • PV Label: The standard circular green PV label.

  • Compliance: Any other labels required by Australian Standards or state-specific regulations.

2. Switchboard & Isolation Labels

  • Warning Labels: Placed on the switchboard or outside the meter box with clear shutdown references.

  • Shutdown Procedure: The emergency shutdown procedure label must be clearly legible.

  • Alternative Supply: Specific labeling for alternative supply systems.

3. Solar Battery Labels

On or adjacent to the battery itself, please photograph:

  • Safety Signs: Risk-specific warnings (e.g., Toxic Fumes, Battery Explosion, or Arc Flash hazards).

  • First Aid: Chemical hazard signs giving instructions for exposure to battery chemicals.
