Try Onsite’s new beta scanner
Get your job done even faster. We are launching a beta scanner that improves your evidence collecting experience.
How to access it?
The new version of Onsite is schedule for release next week.
Once you update the app to the new version, Onsite will automatically default to the new scanner, and you will see an orange beta label top-right corner of the scanner window confirming you are using the beta scanner.
How is it better?
Improved detection for iOS devices of flat, extra wide barcodes, such as those on Jinko, Q Cells and Phono 390 panels, and several inverters.
Scans the whole screen from the top down, eliminating the need to carefully align each barcode in the scanner window
Faster detection of barcodes
Each barcode is still collected separately with its own picture as evidence.
Can I still use the original scanner?
Yes, you can. Go to the new “Settings” button at the bottom-right of the scanner to toggle between the original and beta scanner. Switch back any time and your scanner setting will be remembered next time you open the app.
General scanner tips
If lighting conditions are suboptimal (dark or glary), users have reported the following tips can help.
Turn on the torch in the scanner.
Shade your device from glare with a hat.
If under the glass serials are proving difficult to scan, try scanning the serial on the side or back of the panel.
If you have difficulty with an individual serial you can always go to the photos section of the app and take a photo under the “Other” category. This ensures a geotagged photo of the serial will be uploaded to Geo.
