Green Energy Trading has been restricted from undertaking VEU non-building-based lighting upgrades (Activity 35) for a period of three months
The matter relates to a small number of projects delivered by a single contractor, where consumer consent documentation for some non-building-based lighting upgrades did not meet the VEU’s requirements.
While the installations themselves were completed to the required technical standards and delivered energy savings to the system owners, we were unable to fully confirm that the correct authorised consumer had provided consent in every case.
Our Response and Cooperation
Throughout the process, Green Energy Trading cooperated fully with the VEU, worked constructively through the review, and took responsibility for the outcome. We agreed to surrender and withdraw the affected certificates and have remained focused on supporting the system owners involved.
What We’ve Changed
We have used this experience to strengthen our internal controls and have reviewed our systems and processes accordingly.
Our Ongoing Commitment
We regret this outcome but remain committed to maintaining the integrity of the VEU program while continuing to support those system owners involved in these upgrades.
