Upcoming Changes to Panel Standards

Starting 1 October 2024, all installs must use PV modules certified to the 2021 version of the IEC 61215 standard, or have an approved extension.

Contact your panel supplier if you have excess stock certified to the 2016 version that you can't install by the deadline.

Actions for Installers

Check the PV module label and ensure the panel model is current on the CEC’s list of approved modules before installation. Systems with expired panel models on the testing and commissioning date will not qualify for STCs.

Submitting STC Claims

The CEC will add ‘IEC 61215-2021’ to panel models certified to the 2021 standard. Ensure you are selecting this panel model when submitting STC claims. Entering the incorrect panel manufacturer or model is improper STC creation and may lead to your claim being failed or further compliance action.
