Temporary LGC Methodology Updates

From 1 September 2024, temporary large-scale generation certificate (LGC) methodology changes will no longer be available for newly accredited power stations.

The CER have seen an increase in new power stations requesting temporary LGC methodology changes as soon as they are accredited due to installers not doing their due diligence and confirming meters work before or during the application process. Before the accreditation process is complete, power stations must:

  • confirm appropriate metering in a configuration that proves they are eligible for LGCs

  • check their meters are functioning and don’t have communication issues

  • check that generation and auxiliary loss data in 30-minute or less intervals can be supplied

Failure to meet these requirements will mean that LGC’s will not be approved until the meter is working as per the designated methodology.

Temporary methodology changes will still be available to power stations that have made at least 3 LGC claims with valid meter data.
