Defining small and large scale systems
The Clean Energy Regulator recently announced changes to the definition of a boundary for a PV system. They have gone into detail on scenarios where customers may be eligible to claim either claim STCs or LGCs, details of which can be found here.
We followed up with the CER on one scenario that was not specifically listed and they confirmed a property can claim as many 100kW STC systems as there are NMIs, provided they are not connected.
“A single property with three NMIs, each with a 80 kW PV system and each connected to the grid via their separate NMI.
NMIs define the boundaries of the devices.
Each system with a kilowatt rating of 80 kW would be considered a separate device and therefore could be eligible for small-scale technology certificates under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme or large-scale generation certificates under the Large-scale Renewable Energy Target.
