Frequently Asked Questions about the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Solar PV Activity

The Victorian Government is adding a new opportunity for large businesses installing solar systems.

1. What is the C&I Solar PV activity?

The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) C&I Solar PV activity helps businesses install solar systems between 30 kW and 200 kW. It aims to grow the commercial solar market, which has seen slower uptake compared to residential solar.

2. Which businesses can benefit?

Businesses that:

  • Use high amounts of energy.

  • Have rooftop or property space for solar panels.

  • Plan to electrify on-site equipment.

3. How is this different from previous VEU solar programs?

Unlike past measurement-and-verification projects (incentives given after energy savings are measured), this activity provides upfront incentives.

4. Who can install the system?

  • Installers must have Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) accreditation.

  • All electrical work must be performed by a licensed (A Grade) electrician.

5. Can I claim other incentives?

Yes. Eligible systems may also claim Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) or Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs) in addition to VEECs.

6. Where can I find more information?

Further information on the new C&I Solar PV activity can also be found on the VEU Commercial and Industrial Solar webpage.
