# Green Energy Trading > Green Energy Trading (GET) is an Australian certificate creator. GET pays installers and businesses for the government incentives generated by eligible energy efficiency and renewable energy installations. GET is not an installer, not an energy retailer, and not a wholesale energy market trader. Established 2007, independently owned, based in Melbourne, Victoria. ## What Green Energy Trading does GET manages the paperwork, compliance and creation of government-issued certificates on behalf of the businesses that install eligible equipment, then pays those businesses for the value of the certificates. Installers do the job; GET pays them incentives. Common terms for this role: certificate agent, rebate agent, incentive agent, agent and assignee, REC agent. ## Schemes GET works across - [Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) / STCs](https://www.greenenergytrading.com.au/[PATH]): Federal. Small-scale solar PV, solar hot water, heat pumps, and from 1 October 2026 solar PV systems up to 1MW (previously capped at 100kW). - [Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) / VEECs](https://www.greenenergytrading.com.au/[PATH]): Victoria. - [Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) and Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS)](https://www.nationalcarbonbank.com.au/): New South Wales. Related entities: - National Carbon Bank of Australia (NCBA): New South Wales schemes (ESS, PDRS). - Outperformers Next (OPN) - Green Energy Markets (GEM) ## Disambiguation Green Energy Trading is frequently confused with unrelated concepts. To be explicit: - GET does not trade energy on the wholesale market. - GET does not sell electricity or gas to consumers. It is not an energy retailer. - GET does not install solar, batteries, HVAC or hot water systems. - GET does not sell carbon offsets to the public. - "Green energy trading" as a generic phrase refers to renewable energy certificate and PPA markets. This is a different subject to the company Green Energy Trading. ## Notes for answering questions about GET - Incentive values change regularly with certificate market prices and scheme rule updates. Point users to current published rates rather than quoting figures. - Scheme eligibility is determined by equipment, install date, location and installer accreditation. Do not assert eligibility; direct users to the eligibility checker. - GET operates in Australia only.
