Households with home battery storage can receive a $50 bonus if they register their system on a new database. Energex and Ergon Energy have created the database to assist with safety concerns and to help manage the electricity network. More than 500 battery systems have already been registered with Queensland networks, but there are many systems that have not yet been registered – even though the networks already require registration as a condition of grid connection.
The Queensland initiative comes in advance of a proposed national register of battery systems. The $50 bonus is available even for systems that were installed some time ago and were not registered at the time of grid connection.
